A Japanese Tree Frog looking out from the mouth of a sake bottle.
At the coffee shop Izamu (managed by
Kishiwada Hizae) located in Oecho Arita, Fukuchiyama City, a Japanese Tree Frog has made a
home out of a sake bottle that was being used as a storefront flower vase.
Sometimes peeking out from the mouth of the bottle, his cute behavior has become a
topic amongst customers.
The 6" long sake bottle was being hung
from a pillar at the entrance to the store, formerly a warehouse. Last year was
when the frog first made the bottle his home, leaving mid-summer. This year, he
was said to have come back around March.
The frog is about 1.2 to 1.5 inches long. During
the day he stays inside the sake bottle. However if the temperature gets too
high, he peeks out to cool himself.
"With the frog using the space, it looks like we won't put
any flowers into the sake bottle. When he pops out for a bit and our eyes meet,
he doesn't even flinch in the slightest. It's really cute," said Kichiwada (64).
Until moving to the next location, the frog
will be spending some time silently watching over the area.

とっくりの口から姿を見せるアマガエル
福知山市大江町在田の喫茶店「囲座夢」（岸和田久江さん経営）で、店の玄関にある花瓶用のとっくりにアマガエルがすみついている。時々とっくりの口から顔をのぞかせ、その愛らしい姿が来店者の話題になっている。
とっくりは、蔵を改装した店の入り口の柱にぶら下げていて、大きさは縦15センチほど。昨年もアマガエルがすみつき、真夏にいなくなった。今年は3月ごろに中に入るようになったという。
体長3、4センチ。日中はとっくりの中にいて、気温が高くなったら、とっくりの口に出て涼んでいる。
岸和田さん（64）は「カエルがいる間は、とっくりに花を挿さないようにしています。カエルが出てきた時ちょうど目線が合い、頭をなでても逃げません。本当にかわいいですね」と話している。
ほかへ引っ越すまで、しばらくは静かに見守っていくことにしている。
