3 "dashi floats" patrol during the traditional festival of San No Miya Hibita Shrine=San No Miya, Isehara City

Continuing a traditional festival said to be over 1300 years old, a large crown of citizens transport mikoshi floats by foot. The festival was held on the 22nd at San No Miya Hibita Shrine, Isehara City (Chief Priest: Nagai Haruko)

Known as the "raging mikoshi," the floats are violently swung from left to right as they're marched through the vicinity of the shrine. Shouldering the mikoshi, the peculiar chant "Iya~ To~ Sasse!" can be heard echoing from the shrine parishioners.

With karakuri war generals placed on the three 7.5 meter high floats, they're marched gallantly on parade. Attempting to capture the scene, cameramen crowd the area.

According to the shrine, what's known affectionately as the "San No Miya Festival" began in the year 672. Within the temple, traditional sato kagura performances were held on stage.
